Employment law also known as labor law, concerns the relationship between employers and workers. It is a body of laws, administrative rulings, and precedents which address the legal rights of, and restrictions on, working people and their organizations.
It mediates many aspects of the relationship between trade unions, employers and employees. There are two main aspects of labor law. First, collective labor law relates to the relationship between employee, employer and union. Second, individual labor law concerns employees’ rights at work and through the contract for work.
In Pennsylvania, there are several offices that regulate and touch the daily lives of Pennsylvanians regarding labor in a variety of ways. Some of those regulators are:

- PENNSAFE (Pennsylvania Safety First);
- The Bureau of Workforce Development Partnership;
- The Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety;
- Social Security for Public Employees;
- The Office of Unemployment Compensation Service Centers;
- The Office of Unemployment Compensation Benefits;
- The Office of Unemployment Compensation Tax Services; and
- The Bureau of Labor Law Compliance
